Setting up SharePoint 2010 Server

So the year 2012 is the year of trying new things for me. So far I’ve dabbled in Visual Studio LightSwitch. My next task, SharePoint.

Thanks to the wonderful technology that is virtual machines, I fire up a copy of Windows Server 2008 and drop in SharePoint 2010.

Coding for Windows… on a Mac

Is it improper to code for Windows on a Mac? Maybe so, but I like it. I’m sure it makes me an odd one given that the typical Mac user doesn’t want anything to do with Windows. He or she seems to be ranting about the stereotypical mac user, of which there are plenty. I wonder if he or she knows not all Mac users are like that? Read the rest of this entry »

For those who are familiar with VisualBasic and C#, VisualStudio is probably at “back-of-hand” status. If you’re new to Visual programming, either VB or Visual C#, LightSwitch might be what you’re looking for to get started. With a very similar UI and enough hand-holding to get the job done without hitting up the Internet. I’m not a total newb when it comes to programming (I have some background in PHP/MySQL) so I can generally get the idea when I look at code, regardless of the language. Programming for an Operating System, however, is new territory for me. Here’s how I fared.
